The town of Chandraprastha, a fictional setting in South India, is on the brink of chaos due to the influence of Cartel, a notorious crime syndicate. In the midst of this turmoil, Saindhav Koneru, also known as Saiko, resides with his daughter Gayathri, leading a quiet life. However, their peaceful existence is shattered when Gayathri is diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a condition that requires a costly treatment of ₹17 crores. As his daughter's life hangs in the balance, Saiko is forced to confront his past and return to a world of crime, embarking on a daunting battle against his former rivals. The greatest challenge he faces is Vikas Malik, a merciless gangster. Can Saiko save his daughter and Chandraprastha from the clutches of the Cartel?
Review of Saindhav: The third big release in the great Sankranti film lineup, Saindhav, is the much anticipated 75th film project of Venkatesh Daggubati. It is helmed by HIT series director Sailesh Kolanu. This captivating tale weaves a complex storyline with elements of crime and intense emotion. With Nawazuddin Siddiqui making his Telugu debut, along with important parts from Andrea Jeremiah, Ruhani Sharma, Shraddha Srinath, and Arya, the film has an excellent ensemble cast.
After finding success in mature parts in the big-budget films Drushyam and Narappa as well as the OTT series Rana Naidu, Venkatesh steps into Denzel Washington and Liam Neeson's shoes, playing a character who is both energetic and emotionally charged. As a single dad trying to protect and provide for his daughter, he does a great job. But where he really shines is in his portrayal of the mysterious Saiko.
The location of Chandraprastha, as well as the lifestyles of Saindhav, his daughter Gayathri, and their neighbor Manogya, are introduced in the first part of the movie. Under the supervision of customs officer Murthy, Saindhav works as a crane operator in the port and has a tranquil existence. Although there are interesting parts, the story isn't always compelling. Better character and story development would have been necessary to match the thrill and excitement of an action-packed drama. The movie picks up steam at the intermission as Sailesh increases the suspense and highlights the phenomena of Saiko, which causes individuals to physically have heart attacks just by hearing the name. The dynamics of the cartel Saindhav faces and his enigmatic history are explored in greater detail in the second part.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui, in his Tollywood debut, mesmerizes with his body language and multilingual dialogue in the role of Vikas Malik. His portrayal of a vicious mobster smitten with Jasmine gives the movie more nuance and entertaining value. Arya as Manas, Jayaprakash as Murthy, Andrea Jeremiah as Jasmine, Jisshu Sengupta as Michael, Ruhani Sharma as Dr. Renu, and Shraddha Srinath as Manogya are among the other cast members who give respectable performances.
Santhosh Narayanan's background score and music are passable; during action scenes, the score changes into thrilling rock songs. The film's production values are enhanced by Manikandan's cinematography, Garry BH's editing, and Kolla Avinash's art direction. The action choreography should be improved, though.
Saindhav is an interesting attempt overall to combine action with emotional depth, but its execution isn't always flawless. It features interesting scenes and is evidence of how Telugu cinema is developing, combining traditional narrative with modern filmmaking techniques.
