BJP Leader's Controversial Slang for Rahul Gandhi Sparks Outrage
January 29, 2024
A recent derogatory remark by Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has once again highlighted the ongoing tussle between the ruling Trinamool and the Congress party in Bengal. This incident has provided an opportunity for the Trinamool to take a swipe at the state Congress leaders, who have been facing criticism for their handling of the seat-sharing issue for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
This incident comes at a crucial time when Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which aims to unite the people of India, has entered Bengal. The yatra, which started on January 14, has already passed through the Northeast and is currently moving through Bihar. However, the yatra has been hit with a derogatory comment by Suvendu Adhikari, who called Rahul Gandhi a "fool" while referring to his "coal on the stove" remark.
The "coal on the stove" remark was made by Rahul Gandhi during a rally in Assam's Dhubri, where he was targeting Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over corruption. The remark was earlier mocked by Mr. Sarma, who is considered one of the most powerful leaders in the BJP. However, the comment by Suvendu Adhikari, who is a former trusted aide of Mamata Banerjee, has once again triggered a war of words between the Trinamool and the BJP.
While the state Congress unit is yet to respond to this derogatory remark, the Trinamool, on the other hand, has used this as an opportunity to take a dig at both the BJP and the state Congress leaders. Trinamool leader Kunal Ghosh posted a video clip of Suvendu Adhikari's comment on Twitter, expressing his concerns over the use of such uncouth language in politics. He also raised questions on the role of state Congress leaders, who are acting as "BJP's pimps" in Bengal.
It is pertinent to note that the Trinamool has repeatedly blamed the Congress, especially its state unit chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, for the current deadlock over seat-sharing in the INDIA alliance. In the past, the Trinamool has accused Mr. Chowdhury of acting in their interests rather than considering the greater good of the alliance.
In light of this recent incident, political leaders need to refrain from using derogatory language against each other and focus on the issues that truly matter. The ongoing tussle over seat-sharing between the Trinamool and the Congress is only serving to weaken the INDIA alliance, which was seen as a potential alternative to the BJP in the upcoming elections.
In the end, it is the people of Bengal who will suffer the most due to the political egos and agendas of these parties. It is high time for the leaders to put their differences aside and work towards a united front to defeat the communal forces in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Only then can we truly achieve the goal of a united and prosperous Bengal?
